Brittle star

Those who wonder to see long-legged octopus in the exhibition, should take a closer look. Although there are some similarities, the fragile brittle star is a type of starfish.

Brittle stars have very fragile-looking, worm-like arms, which allow them to be very flexible. These arms can reach a length of 15 centimetres. In case they lose one of these arms, they recover qickly and simply regrow it. These arms are also very useful the brittle star is searching for food. The little bristles on his arms help to filter plankton or worms out of the water.
