Hi there! I shake you warmly by the flipper. My name is Fatima and I am a female grey seal. I was rescued as a pup in the early 1970s. I suffered severe head injuries from being bashed against rocks during stormy weather. The scars all over my head and nose make me easily recognizable and show the severity of my injuries. I suffer with slight brain damage as I have always had problems with both of my eyes, requiring treatment from time to time.
Over the last few years, I have encroaching pigmentation on the scarring on my eyes. That means I am gradually going blind. I'm not the only blind seal at the Sanctuary, though. Many of my friends are blind too, so the team here at the Sanctuary know exactly how to look after me. I don't know if you've heard, but I have a lovely silvery coat after my annual moult which I like to show off to people who come to see me.
