Albino Dogfish

At Loch Lomond, we have a rare Albino Dogfish called Casper. His name was chosen because he looks like casper the ghost! He was given to the centre from a fisherman who caught him in his nets. It is thought there is a 1 in 2million chance of catching an Albino Dogfish in the wild, so we are very lucky to have him living with us.

Dogfish are a member of the Shark family and can be found around British coastal waters.
Their diet consists of squid, mackerel, sand eel in the centre, however in the wild they are scavengers and feed on whatever food is available.
The Scottish Sea Angling Network work to protect areas of Scotland where the populations of Dogfish and other native sharks are depleted.
