World Oceans Week Success
£586.41 raised for the Marine Conservation Society!
The 8th – 17th June 2012 was World Oceans Week here at SEA LIFE London Aquarium.
We had a fantastic time celebrating the oceans in order to raise awareness for the devastating consequences of marine litter, pollution, overfishing and the effects of global warming on marine life.
With the emphasis firmly on family friendly entertainment, everyone got stuck into some fantastic arts and crafts, came to story time with Kwazii Kitten from the Octonauts, and joined our Guest Experience Assistant team in playing some great games! On the 8th and 9th we were joined by some representatives from the Marine Conservation Society who were great fun and did a brilliant job helping us to spread the word about marine conservation.
On Saturday 16th June, The Lempen Puppet Theatre put on two free performances for our guests of their stunning new show ‘The Fisherman and the Pearl’ which was created with the MCS; using beautifully handcrafted puppets, masks, storytelling and animation they told a comic, tragic and yet hopeful story about the oceans which captivated and inspired guests and staff alike!

Thank you!
A big thank you to everyone who got involved! If you would like to find out more about the MCS and their work visit their website http://www.mcsuk.org/
We had loads of fantastic entries to our design a turtle shell competition… every one of them kindly donating £1.50 to the MCS and it was hard to pick two winners as there were so many beautiful, brightly coloured designs.
However we have decided on these two by Joey and Indigo which we think are particularly fun! Congratulations and well done Joey and Indigo! You have each won your very own MCS turtle adoption.
