American Lobster
You can find American Lobsters all around the British and European Coasts. They like to live in crevices and holes amongst rocky substrate.
These lobsters have large pincers which are incredibly strong, but different sized. The lobster needs the bigger one for defense, with the smaller pincer the animal cuts its prey into pieces to put into his mouth.
American Lobsters feed on bottom dwelling creatures such as crabs, urchins, starfish and occasionally fish.
The American Lobster is part of our special exhibit "Claws" >
