Seal rescue

Seal

We have a busy seal rescue and rehabilitation programme that helps injured and abandoned seal pups on the East Coast of Britain at Scarborough SEA LIFE Sanctuary.

We rescue seals that need our help and bring them back to the centre for treatment. Once they are well enough we release them back into the wild. Without us many seals would die or be left too unwell to survive. In the wild seal pups and seals face many threats. These include being caught in fishing nets, getting hit by boats, ingesting and entanglement in marine litter and debris and being shot.

Rescued seal pups need feeding every 4 hours so our team are used to working around the clock. They are also used to fundraising! It costs £2,000 to rescue, rehabilitate and release just one seal pup.

Just by visiting us, you are supporting this great cause, but if you want to help more, getting involved in our beach cleans will have a huge impact on helping these animals to survive in the wild.
