Cubans meet Brazilians: two Smooth-Fronted Caimans move in at SEA LIFE Speyer
In April two of the three Cuban Crocodile sisters were moved to SEA LIFE Hannover as they were not getting along well. Our spirited crocodile lady receives new company.
Two members of the Schneider’s Smooth-Fronted Caimans, which originate in Brazil were introduced into the existing crocodile enclosure. They are a male and a female and to ensure that there will be no trouble between the different species, the enclosure has two separate parts.
When they are fully grown, this type of caiman can even feed on porcupines and other mammals.
Caimans have excellent night vision – similar to that of cats!
There are six different species of caiman found throughout the watery, jungle habitats of Central and South America.
