Rock Pool Roadshow
SEA LIFE Blackpool presents a new and engaging interactive learning experience that can be delivered in the comfort of your own school. Our mobile rock pool enables pupils to receive a hands-on experience with a range of the UK’s native rock pool inhabitants, such as star fish, shore crabs and anemones, all under the guidance and supervision of our helpful and knowledgeable staff. In addition to this, pupils will also get the opportunity to hold and learn about British native shark and ray eggs referred to as 'mermaid’s purses'.
The experience is accompanied by an educational talk, which allows pupils to gain greater knowledge and understanding of aspects such as the location and formation of rock pools, the wonderful creatures that live on our shores and what pupils as individuals can do in terms of conservation to help protect local marine life.
Your pupils will learn interesting facts such as:
Star fish can re-grow their legs if they lose one
Shore crabs walk sideways
Anemones are made of 95% water
British shark eggs take around 6 – 12 months to hatch
Each session is priced at £50 and will be tailored to meet the demands of each individual year group. It will also be highly accessible for pupils with special educational needs, in order to ensure all pupils receive a holistic educational experience, which will leave them with fun memories and inspiration to care and protect local marine life in the future.
