SEA LIFE Blackpool creatures won’t be ‘lonely this Christmas’

As Christmas approaches, the team at SEA LIFE Blackpool have devised a festive plan to keep the creatures company when the centre closes for Christmas Day.

Each member of the team will be donning their best Christmas jumper and filming themselves singing a Christmas carol which will be played on the TV screens throughout the centre.

The creatures are so used to seeing lots of friendly faces each day when the centre is open to visitors that the staff don’t want them to be ‘lonely this Christmas’ and hope their jolly Christmas Carol renditions will be a nice Christmas treat.

Scott Blacker, Displays Supervisor says ‘Christmas Day is the only day each year that the centre is closed and we wanted to give our well-loved creatures a little Christmas present from the team and thought this would be just as much fun for them as it is for us. We hope they enjoy it.’

The many underwater creatures won’t be completely on their own on Christmas Day though as one ‘poor sole’ will be giving up their time to make sure they are well fed. The centre will re-open on Boxing Day for an exciting year ahead with some brand new features including Shark Mission and Octopus Garden.

SEA LIFE Blackpool will be opening its very first Sharky’s Grotto this Christmas where children will receive a free Christmas present and meet friendly mascot Sharky. There will also be lots of ‘Fishmas’ activities, a competition and charity collection for Merlin’s Magic Wand.

Visitors can join in the festivities throughout December and Sharky’s Grotto will be open every weekend until 22nd December from 12noon - 3pm.
