World Ocean Day 2013 at SEA LIFE Blackpool
Celebrate World Ocean Day with a fin-tastic offer dare you Snorkel with Sharks in Blackpool?
World Ocean Day, Saturday 8 June, is a celebration of the vast bodies of water which cover our planet and is dedicated to raising awareness of the conservation efforts needed to ensure the survival of the incredible creatures which call the ocean their home.
To celebrate World Ocean Day, throughout this weekend Sea Life Blackpool is raising awareness of the Big Fish Campaign and offering their new Snorkelling with Sharks experience for a special discounted rate of just £40 per person or a family of four for £150.
The Big Fish Campaign is aimed at raising awareness about the problem of aquarium fish that grow larger than the vast majority of home aquaria can accommodate, and to promote responsible buying and selling of larger species of fish.
Sea Life Blackpool will be hosting a variety of talks throughout the weekend aimed at raising awareness of this campaign and showing visitors some of the fish which have plenty of space at Sea Life which members of the public have tried to buy for their much smaller aquariums at home.
As wells as this key conservation message, the famous Blackpool attraction is offering visitors the chance to get face to fin with some of the oceans’ most magnificent and misunderstood creatures and equip them with a better understanding of how they can help protect these beautiful fish.
Jenn Newton, General Manager of Sea Life Blackpool, said: “What better way to celebrate World Ocean Day than diving in our Ocean Tank and getting up close and personal with our 20 resident tropical sharks and learn about these amazing animals.
“The Big Fish Campaign is one which is really close to our hearts in Blackpool and we hope that by providing information and advice throughout the weekend we can make a difference.”
The special offer can only be taken up at Sea Life Blackpool on Saturday 8 June and Sunday 9 June by calling 01253 621 258 (extension 3) or on the day, it is not available online.
