TEXAS TURTLE RESCUE EXHIBIT/ SEA LIFE GRAPEVINE AQUARIUM
Opened To The Public July 11th 2013
SEA LIFE Aquarium Grapevine is proud to announce the unveiling of their new Texas Turtle Rescue Exhibit, coinciding with the attraction’s second anniversary. The new exhibit will be open to the public and provide a permanent home for two non-releasable endangered Kemp’s Ridley sea turtles, Roxy and Squirt.
The Texas Turtle Rescue Exhibit teaches young children the importance of Sea Turtle conservation and overall appreciation for natural aquatic habitats. The staff at Sea Life Grapevine have quickly grown attached to the two turtles, “We are excited to provide a home for these two incredible sea creatures that will serve as ambassadors for sea turtle education and ocean conservation,” said Iain Scouller, SEA LIFE Aquarium Grapevine General Manager. “Along with learning more about sea turtles, we want SEA LIFE visitors to know that whether it’s conservation or recycling, you don’t have to live by the beach to make a difference for the creatures living in our oceans.”
Before being transferred to SEA LIFE Aquarium, both injured Kemp’s Ridley sea turtles were rescued and rehabilitated by Animal Rehabilitation Keep (ARK) in Port Aransas. The Texas Turtle Rescue Exhibit has a specially designed tank for the endangered turtles, which has a secure amount of depth for the turtles to safely dive in. Due to the severity of their injuries, both turtles are unable to return to their natural habitat and will now live out the rest of their lives in the safety of SEA LIFE Aquarium.
The Sea Life Aquarium welcomes visitors of all ages to learn more about the life of a sea turtle in the Texas Turtle Rescue Exhibit. Educational information on conservation and turtle rescue can be found throughout the display. With a massive display tank, the exhibit provides a comfortable setting for our newest members, Squirt and Roxy
Admission is $19 for adults, $15 for children ages 3 to 12, and free for kids 2 and under. Buy special discounted tickets online at www.SEALIFEus.com/grapevine.
