Events at the Cornish Sanctuary are all about having fun, making new friends and sharing a story or two. We want you to leave with amazing memories of your time with us, so we’ve created an exciting events calendar which is sure to get your seal of approval.
The Cornish Seal Sanctuaries birthday weekend!
27th June - 29th June
This weekend we will be celebrating two of our lovely residents birthdays!
Sunny will be turning 2 on the 27th, and Bo will be turning 1 on the 29th!
To celebrate we are having reduced adoption prices at the sanctuary from Fri 27th June - Sun 29th June.
Adoption prices will be an amazing £25 each, or £50 for 2.
Join us at the sanctuary this weekend and get involved with the celebrations! The animal care team will be treating the birthday boys with an ice block cake and there will be special additional talks throughout the weekend from our entertainments team.
Dive into an Octonauts Mission!
2nd - 25th August
Visitors will dive into action with the Octonauts, the team of undersea adventure heroes from CBeebies. Young fans of the TV show will embark on an exciting mission where they can meet Captain Barnacles & Peso!
15th February – 23rd February
Remind yourselves of our Great Outdoors and embrace the British weather by coming along to our ‘Mud Fest’. We will be celebrating all things mud during the February Half term, with a magical Piskie Puddle path along some of our wooded areas. We will also have a Welly wanging competition, a chance to build your own den, plant a spring bulb on site and of course make some mud pies! Book tickets online and in advance for savings.
Pirates will climb aboard our bank on the Helford and will take over the sanctuary for a week. There will be pirate themed activities, a treasure hunt and if you’re caught you may have to walk our plank! Come dressed as a pirate and really get into this week of fun!
At the start of summer months before we go on our holidays the Cornish Seal Sanctuary will be making the most out of their Rockpool. They’ll be more talks and information about how to safely rockpool, where the best rockpool sites are and really fill you in before you head off on your holidays! It will be informative and fun and they’ll be great discounts for schools and groups!

FUN DOG SHOW
In its 5th year running why not enter your pooch into our fun dog show! They’ll be prizes for prettiest pooch, to curliest tale, to most obedient! It’s a lot of fun for you and your dog! Then why not enjoy our 42 acre site and reward your friend with a wonderful walk and peek at our seals!
DON’T MISS OUR RESCUED SEAL PUPS
Seal mating season begins around September time, this also coincides with rougher seas and storms approaching. What this means is that during this time we get a lot of seal pup call outs. The BDMLR, the RSPCA and the Cornish Seal Sanctuary rescue between 40 and 6-0 pups each year. As the leading Seal Rescue Centre in Europe and the only one in Cornwall we then become home to these pups while they are rehabilitated until they are ready for release. Our hospital and pools will be full and it’s the perfect time to for a visit.
HAUNTINGLY GOOD HALF TERM
Come along with your little witches and wizards and take part in our Half term Halloween Fun! They’ll be some otterly scary games, spooky badge making, a witches wood trail and even a witches coven.
Spoil yourself with a hot chocolate and cream in our cafe
Get your wellies on and splash about in our woods and take to the trails. Watch our animals come to life with the wet weather months
Seal Hospital “Behind the Scenes Experience”
Explore behind the scenes at the heart of marine rescue in Cornwall’s only working Seal Hospital. See how we carry out life-saving work with our animals and nurture our new arrivals. You can also experience what it takes to become a marine expert.
From a sneak peek at our food preparation area, to getting hands on in our hospital pup pen you’ll get an insight into the science behind the Sanctuary.
What We Do - Experience animal welfare in action at Europe’s busiest Seal Rescue centre.
Encounter fascinating seals, playful otters and comical penguins in our fantastic underwater viewing areas. Visit a working Seal Hospital and meet our resident sea lions. Daily interactive talks and feeding demonstrations make this a day out for the whole family.
