Looking for a great day trip from Brisbane? We’ve mapped out the perfect Brisbane to Sunshine Coast trip itinerary that includes beach, bush, shopping and even seals. All you need to do is pack up your swimmers, slap on some sunscreen, and kick back and enjoy all the fun you’ll have along the way!

7:30am
Hop in the Car, head North

8:30am - 10:00am
Enjoy a Mountain Stroll

Just a one hour drive out of Brisbane and you'll hit the Glass House Mountains, a group of eleven awe-inspiring peaks that should be on all Brisbanite's bucket lists. They are a natural playground filled with walking tracks and views that won't disappoint. It's ideal to take one of the Glass House Mountain walks early in the morning during warmer months allowing you to soak up the stunning scenery before it gets too hot.

For a more leisurely walk, we recommend the Tibrogargan bush walking circuit. The circuit leads you around the base of Mount Tibrogargan through groves and beautiful open forests. An incredible way to start your morning and, don’t worry, this track is great for all fitness levels. You may even spot a peregrine falcon or two circling above during your walk.

10:40am - 12:00pm
Early Lunch at One of QLD’s Cutest Towns

Just another 40 minutes on and you will find the quaint little village of Montville. You'll fall in love with Montville for its glorious views of the Sunshine Coast, beautiful gardens, rainforests and picturesque waterfalls. The town is also filled with lots of cute and quirky places to do some shopping and stop for an early lunch; you'll be ready to eat after your morning walk!

12:30pm - 2:30pm
Escape the Heat at the Aquarium and See the Seals

After replenishing your energy with lunch, head 30 minutes East to Mooloolaba and its beaches! It's a little too hot to hit the sand smack bang in the middle of the day, so instead, escape the blaring sun and head to SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast Aquarium. What better way to break up all of the outdoor action of the day and escape the weather than to come and submerge yourself in an underwater paradise?

SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast's 2.2 million litre oceanarium will mesmorise you as you stand beneath sharks, giant stingrays and hundreds of fish swimming above you. There is nowhere else like this local-loved attraction on the Sunshine Coast. Make sure you get to the aquarium in time to catch the entertaining live Seal Presentation at 1pm too!

2:30pm - 4:30pm
Time to Hit The Beach

After your marine adventure at SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast, you’ll be ready to grab some snacks from Mooloolaba Wharf then hit the beach and dive in! Conveniently just next door is Mooloolaba Beach, famous for being one of the Sunshine Coast's best (and safest) places for a dip. The sun won't be quite as harsh by this time too so you’ll be much safer being out on the sand.

After a couple of hours relaxing on the beach, soaking up the warm afternoon sun and swimming in the ocean, you can take the 1.5 hour journey back to Brisbane and be home just in time for dinner.

6:00pm
Home on the couch!

Settle into the couch and reminisce on the fun filled yet equally as relaxing day trip you’ve just had from Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast.
