Napoleon is our biggest fish at SEA LIFE Blackpool and he is a Humphead Wrasse.
The Humphead Wrasse is the largest living member of the wrasse family. Napoleon has thick, fleshy lips, and a hump on his head above the eyes. He lives in our big shark display and is easily spotted as he is a bright blue/ green colour. Napoleon is around 10-years-old, but has probably only been a boy for a year or so.
Napoleon was collected under special license from the coast of Australia so that SEA LIFE can try and establish a successful captive-breeding programme which could provide a vital lifeline if the wild population is driven close to extinction.
There is a possible partner for him in Belgium, but since Napoleon will live to be 25 to 30-years-old, we are letting him settle in before they try any match-making.
Don’t miss Napoleon's feeding time at 2:30pm daily
