The Big Fish
Campaign

The Big Fish Campaign helps home aquarium owners buy fish responsibly.

Did you know?

Did you hear that fish will only grow to a size relative to their tank? Don’t be fooled – it’s a myth!

SEA LIFE Bray has rescued numbers of terrapins as owners are unable to keep them once they have grown out of their tanks.

At SEA LIFE Scarborough we continue to support The Big Fish Campaign by educating our visitors on the issues surrounding the purchase of certain species of fish for a home aquarium. Some species can very quickly outgrow a small tank… it’s a big problem!

Zoos and aquariums across the country are running out of room to rescue all of the big fish.

So The Big Fish Campaign helps to promote responsible buying and selling of these larger species of fish and ultimately saving the Ocean.

Top Tip!

Never buy a pet fish unless you are sure that you will be able to adequately house it when it is fully grown.

Important Visitor Information

The health and safety of our guests and team is our top priority and further to the Government’s updated advice on Covid-19 coronavirus, we have made the decision to temporarily close SEA LIFE Bray as a precautionary measure.

The closure, which is effective from 19th March, is due to the operational nature of the attraction and is consistent with guidance on social distancing in relation to Covid-19 coronavirus. Moving forward, we will remain in contact with the relevant authorities on when we can re-open.
