Discover, Learn and Protect: How SEA LIFE Bangkok is Helping Thailand’s Coral Reefs Thrive
- Tuesday 23rd July 2024
At SEA LIFE, we believe the ocean is full of wonder – and it’s even more magical when shared with the whole family. Whether you’re visiting our aquarium to come face-to-fin with sharks, rays, and seahorses, or learning about marine life together, every moment is a chance to spark curiosity and inspire a love for nature.
This World Nature Conservation Day, we’re taking families beyond the aquarium and into the wild – to shine a spotlight on one of Thailand’s most incredible and important natural treasures: coral reefs.
Coral reefs aren’t just colourful underwater gardens – they are bustling cities of the sea, home to billions of creatures. But did you know these reefs are in danger? Climate change, pollution, and coastal development are putting pressure on these delicate ecosystems. That’s why SEA LIFE Bangkok is diving deep into conservation, helping protect these habitats for future generations to enjoy.

Through our exciting Pro Reef Project, we’re working in the south of Thailand with local scientists, educators, and students to explore, study, and protect coral reefs. Families can feel good knowing that by visiting SEA LIFE, they’re supporting hands-on conservation, education, and restoration efforts. It’s not just about watching the fish – it’s about saving their homes.
This project began with mapping coral reefs and now focuses on finding the best ways to restore them. Even better, it’s about community connection – empowering young people to care for their coasts and be champions of the sea.
Want to help too? Here are some family-friendly ways to be ocean heroes at home:
- Choose reef-safe sunscreen when swimming.
- Reuse, recycle, and reduce waste wherever you can.
- Eat sustainable seafood – look for eco-friendly labels.
- Pick products with less packaging.
Every small action adds up – and families have the power to lead the way!
So whether you’re planning your next aquarium visit, talking about nature at the dinner table, or making ocean-friendly swaps at home, remember: together, we can protect our planet’s blue heart.
Join us in celebrating World Nature Conservation Day – and let’s make waves for a better future, one family adventure at a time.
