Time to take part!

World Oceans Day logo

Friday 8th June is World Oceans Day, a global celebration of our planet’s seas and what can be found in them. Around the country you’ll find various events full of fun activities for adults and children alike to get involved in and learn more about the marine environment. This year at the Sanctuary we will be holding an all day workshop with a recycling theme, following on from our recent beach cleaning efforts in May. Participants are welcome to bring their own unwanted items and packaging to recycle it into some exciting artwork, decorations, ornaments or anything else that your imagination can come up with. Time to get creative!

Keep an eye out for other conservation events over the summer – with the holidays fast approaching many organisations will be gearing up to provide awesome experiences for everyone ranging from snorkelling trips in some of our most beautiful settings to shark and ray egg case hunts along the strandline. Conservation most certainly isn’t a mundane subject and there are a lot of people and volunteers out there trying their hardest to make conservation education as enthralling as it is interesting to be a part of – so why not give it a go? Organisations such as the Cornwall Wildlife Trust, Shark Trust and the local Voluntary Marine Conservation Areas at Helford, Polzeath, St Agnes, Fowey and Looe have a full programme of widely varied events for everyone on their websites just waiting for you to check out!
