Say hello to Snoopy...

Hello there! Welcome to my page. I don't usually like to socialise with people, but I will make an exception just this once! My name is Snoopy, and I am a female grey seal. I arrived at the Sanctuary on the 26th of October 2004 and love being looked after by my carers. The other seals are too noisy for my liking, so I like to lay on the haul out and wait for the team to bring me my food. Life a the Sanctuary is relaxed, but that wasn't always the case. My life has been quite an adventure...

The sanctuary was contacted by the Keepers of Whipsnade Wild Animal Park who hoped to provide a new home for me after my companion died earlier in the year. I then made the long journey from London to Cornwall.

Originally, I was a resident at Whipsnade for 22 years, where I shared my enclosure with a common seal. In 1990, Magnus, an adult male grey seal, was the first seal to be re-homed at the Sanctuary from Edinburgh. Founder Ken Jones was contacted by the media to prevent Magnus being euthanized, after the death of his partner in Scotland.

Magnus and I had been at Edinburgh at the same time. My friend Dr Boyle wondered if there was a chance that Magnus and I were related. The sanctuary then contacted Edinburgh Zoo, and subsequent research confirmed that I was the daughter of Magnus! I always thought he looked like me! We had similar flippers, you see.

Upon arrival at the sanctuary, I spent a few days in a nursery pool before joining my dad and the other residents in the convalescent pool.
