Puppy Love for Friendly Penguin

A penguin at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary is experiencing new found stardom thanks to a trusty canine friend.

A video, which features Barney the Humboldt penguin having an animated bonding session with Bryn the dog, was posted on Youtube, and has since launched the playful duo into the limelight across the pond.

Barney and Bryn’s comedy act struck a chord with TV producers in America, and stole the pair some air time on ABC News, appearing amongst a host of footage filmed around the world including a singing donkey and a disgruntled elephant.

Hosts of the show described the scene as a “Cross species love affair” with the pair “enjoying each others company.”

“Barney’s best friend is usually his pool partner Gilbert. The pair used to be inseparable, but recently Gilbert has been preoccupied after striking up a romance with fellow Humboldt Penguin Lola,” explained Sanctuary staff member Rachael Vine.

“Barney has now had to find a new best friend, which has led him to Bryn, our visitor’s dog.”
