Staff and visitors P-P-Picked up a party hat to celebrate Penguin birthdays at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary.
The Cornish Seal Sanctuary celebrated a trio of birthdays this week, as their resident Humboldt Penguins Barney, Ruby and Lola turned five and three.
The Penguin Palooza kick started at the Sanctuary’s specially decorated Penguin enclosure which plunged visitors into birthday penguin paradise. Whilst the Penguins enjoyed their festive fish, Sanctuary staff donned on party hats for the day and celebrated with a penguin themed birthday cake.
Extra activities included free penguin face painting, badge making and an array of creature talks and feeds.
“Here at the Sanctuary, we are celebrating a special year of birthdays. In addition to celebrating our 54 year landmark birthday in marine rescue, we will see our oldest seal Sheba turn 41 making her a world record breaker as the oldest female Grey Seal in captivity. Celebrations will continue as we host an array of Olympic and jubilee animal activities,” said Manager Sarah Vine.
“Our penguins may be small but they have big personalities, and on their birthday, they proved to be the greatest party animals of all.”
