Walk for Whales

The Cornish Seal Sanctuary Walks for Whales

With mud firmly between their toes, staff at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary, together with volunteers, completed their annual Walk for Whales event.

With blue skies above, but lots of mud underfoot, the Sanctuary carried out a fun filled five mile walk to raise awareness and petition against commercial whaling.

“The funds raised this year will help WDCS in their ongoing battle to put an end to whaling,” said Sarah Vine, General Manager at the Sanctuary.

“We take our commitment to conservation issues very seriously. With continued efforts we aim to help put an end to the needless slaughter of the magnificient giants of our oceans.”

The money generated from Walk for Whales will fund vital undercover projects carried out to unearth the illegal marine activities taking place in large whaling nations. It will also help WDCS conservationists meet with political representatives around the world.

“Aside from being great fun, ‘Walk for Whales’ supports a fantastic cause and we want to make sure year on year we see more volunteers getting involved.”
