Are you interested in a future career working with marine life? Why not come and gain some hands on experience at SEA LIFE London Aquarium!
Life at the aquarium is busy, ever changing and totally unpredictable. We can never guarantee what you will be doing on you work placement, however we will endeavour to give you as broad and interesting an experience as possible.
We will tailor each placement to meet your individual learning requirements. Most placements will be spent on our Guest Experience team, assisting with guest interaction and education. However, if you are interested in learning about other departments, you can also spend some time helping out our retail and admissions departments – just let us know!
A typical day on the guest experience team includes getting stuck in with everything which you would see as a guest going through the aquarium. This could mean you are helping out in the public feeding displays of many of our animals, including the piranhas, rays and seahorse. You could be educating from our interactive touch pool or taking guests around on our Behind the Scenes tour to show them the areas not usually accessible to the public. With over 40,000 school children visiting the aquarium every year we have educational tours and sessions running on a daily basis which need as many hands as possible. Of course, on a temporary placement you would never be expected to do any of this by yourself and will always be with an experienced member of staff.
Our aim is to ensure your placement is both completely flexible and totally beneficial to you – so whatever it is you want to gain experience in, just let us know! We will do everything we can to help you get the most from your time with us.
