The care and welfare of our animals is of upmost importance to us and we do not keep any species for which we cannot offer the highest levels of care; nobody cares more about this than our team of expert Aquarists.

In May 2016 we re-opened Penguin Point following significant investment in the development of the area. The changes include an enlarged area and incorporate state-of-the-art technology in order to simulate as close as possible their natural environment.

The area was designed with help and advice from specialist vets, the British Antarctic Survey , Edinburgh Zoo (who are leading experts in penguin husbandry)and the wealth of experience within the SEA LIFE group – over 30 years with our hugely successful penguin breeding programs around the world, in order to to greatly exceed the legal criteria and standards across Europe.

Showcasing species such as penguins helps us to educate and inspire our guests to care about serious marine issues and communicate the fragility of the global environment. With the opportunity to influence over a million people, from all over the world each year, we believe this is a positive thing.
