Underwater Halloween pumpkin carve-off

Divers compete in tense underwater pumpkin carve-off to kick off Halloween

27 October 2014

Two SEA LIFE London Aquarium divers today competed in a tense underwater pumpkin carve-off – interrupted by a shoal of inquisitive cownose rays - to kick-off the Halloween season at the South Bank attraction.

Using every ounce of their underwater speed and pumpkin carving skills, Graham Banton and Rebecca Carter battled it out surrounded by over 500 colourful marine creatures, including tropical fish, reef sharks and Green Sea turtles. Graham Banton emerged the eventual triumphant winner, carving his pumpkin in just 1 minutes and 57 seconds.

The carve-off marked the start of the Halloween season at the SEA LIFE London Aquarium, where from today until 2nd November guests can spot specially commissioned, intricately hand-carved pumpkins featuring marvelous marine inspired designs around the whole attraction. On 31st October a ‘Fish Witch’ character will make appearances throughout day telling spooky stories and people in fancy dress will receive a free treat.*
