As part of the SEA LIFE London Aquarium’s campaign to challenge public perceptions about Sharks, the leading attraction is declaring a “Jaws Amnesty” on August Bank Holiday weekend.
Any one turning in a copy of the 1975 movie will be offered free entry to the attraction’s Behind the Scenes Tours, worth £5.00*.
“Jaws is a PR disaster for sharks and it perpetuates the worst misconceptions of them as blood thirsty monsters who prey on humans,” explained The SEA LIFE London Aquarium’s General Manager, Toby Forer. “The fact is sharks are far more at threat from humans than humans are from sharks, with millions killed every year. Despite the media hype, they do not target humans as a food source and attacks are usually because they mistake humans for their usual food source or react to them as a protection instinct. We want people to throw away their misconceptions along with a film that has helped shaped those views!”.
Tickets for the Behind the Scenes Tours would usually cost £5.00 for adults or £2.50 for children*. Entry to the SEA LIFE London Aquarium is from £19.80 for adults and £14.40 for children.
The tour will whisk guests “back stage” to see what it takes to run one of Europe’s biggest aquariums. Plus there’s a whole aquarium to explore and thousands of amazing marine creatures from six species of shark to Gentoo Penguins and rare turtles to encounter.
