Colour fish and coral reefs

NEW KS3 Warmer Oceans: Coral Bleaching

Conservation at SEA LIFE London

Students will:

  • Look at coral anatomy and fully understand coral as a living organism
  • Explore reef formation looking at different case studies around the globe
  • Recognise the process of coral reef reproduction
  • Explore ocean acidification and the impact it has on the ocean and its inhabitants – concentrating specifically on food webs
  • Understanding the different stages of coral bleaching and what is being done to help conserve the reef

NEW KS3 Climate Change: Exploring Glaciers

Conservation at SEA LIFE London

Students will:

  • Understand glacial landforms
  • Look at the adaptations of animals native to the polar biomes
  • Explore food webs and how they are affected by changes in their environment
  • Understand and recognise the carbon cycle and its impact on climate change
  • Look at different scenarios to see how the polar areas can be affected by climate change, plastic pollution and tourism.

KS3: Underwater World Tour

Students will:

  • Visit a variety of different habitats around the globe and will be able to identify these places on the globe
  • Be able to compare animals from different habitats, looking at their different characteristics and why they may have these
  • Be able to look closer at artefacts, such as a turtle shell, to build a greater connection with the ocean and improve understanding of marine animals

Please note - our underwater world tour is a guided tour rather than workshop around some of our main aquarium displays.

NEW KS3 Climate Change: Exploring Glaciers

Team up with our expert aquarist guides to go deep behind the scenes at SEA LIFE London Aquarium and discover how we care for over 600 marine and fresh-water species. For 45mintues you’ll have privileged access to the working areas usually closed to the public where you can learn about our extensive breeding, research and conservation programmes and see how the fish food is prepared!

Students will:

  • Understand more about the running of an aquarium
  • Learn about Quarantine and the reasons that animals may be located in this area
  • Understand issues that the team could potentially face daily and what it takes resolve these issues
  • Learn about the food that we give to the different animals, and the importance of a nutritious diet for our animals

Sensory Sessions

For groups with disabilities or special requirements we offer the opportunity to come in before we open to the public for a private tour around the main aquarium displays with a team of our Guest Experience staff. As you travel through an empty aquarium at your own pace, our expert staff will not only wow you with incredible creature facts but also pass around fascinating objects to give your group the opportunity to stroke a real sea turtle shell, inspect an alligator’s teeth and discover what real shark skin feels like.

In order to give your group this exclusive access these sessions are limited to 9am on off-peak, weekday mornings. £2.00 per pupil (plus admission).
