Grey Nurse Shark Rescue

The slow, bottom-dwelling grey nurse shark (Carcharias taurus) - nicknamed the Labrador of the Sea - has come under threat as they frequently become hooked or tangled in the nets of commercial fishing boats and recreational fishing gear in Sydney Harbour and the surrounding area.

At the Manly SEA LIFE Sanctuary (Australia), a team of expert divers and biologists, led by our Aquarium Vet Rob Jones, have been identifying and rescuing these critically endangered animals.

Three of these majestic creatures have already been saved from an otherwise slow and painful death, tangled in marine debris.
