Guests to the SEA LIFE London Aquarium will be dazzled this Easter by a bright and colourful collection of starfish as the new Ocean of Stars display opened with a celebrity-studded exclusive preview on Sunday 24th March 2013.
Journalists and celebrities including Tim Burton and Helena Bonham-Carter and their children got a sneak preview of the totally new dedicated area which showcases several unique species of these stunning and enchanting creatures.
Housed in a range of eye-catching displays with giant windows ensuring maximum visibility for children, guests will be able to get up close to the largest sea star in the world, the Sunflower starfish, so named because it resembles its namesake, but larger! It will be joined by its cousins, the chocolate chip starfish and the pin cushion star, which doesn’t look like a starfish at all, to name just a few.
The new area will also feature a pop up display where guests large and small can climb through a sea tunnel right in the middle of one of the largest displays for a tentacle-tastic up-close view. Plus they will discover a range of strange and fascinating starfish facts – including their ability to regenerate a lost limb and how some turn their stomachs inside out to eat!
There’s also a whole aquarium to discover from rays to rare Green sea turtles and more sharks than ever before in the Shark Reef Encounter display.
Ocean of stars will close on 31st December 2013.
At this stage we do not have a definitive time frame for the opening of the attraction. However as soon as the site is handed over to us, we will be ready to proceed with getting the attraction opened as quickly and safely as possible.
