Sharks

Sharks have lived in our oceans for more than 450 million years! That’s long before dinosaurs first walked the earth. Their brains have evolved to become more intelligent and devoted to their senses – mainly their ability to smell.

There are over 440 species of shark in our oceans and you’ll meet lots of them when you explore SEA LIFE’s ‘Shark Shipwreck’! You could come face-to-face with a nurse shark, a black trip reef shark, a sand tiger shark and lots more! Visit your local SEA LIFE website to find out who you could discover.

SEA LIFE Trust is actively working with the Shark Trust to campaign against unsustainable shark fishing in EU waters. We are also proud to be coordinating the European black tip reef shark breeding programme. You can read more about our project here.
