Accessibility

Learn all you need to know about your visit to our aquarium.

The SEA LIFE Berlin is barrier-free and has an elevator which makes all levels accessible. Of course there is also a corresponding WC, which can be used with a wheelchair.

All visitors with a "B" in their disabled pass may bring along an accompanying person free of charge. A ticket is necessary for yourself. 

Accessibility information

  • The S-Bahn and U-Bahn stations Hackescher Markt are approx. 500 m away, additionally there are many bus lines nearby. 
  • There is no company-owned parking space available. 
  • The building is accessible without steps (door threshold 2 cm).
  • All rooms and facilities that can be used and raised for the guest are accessible without steps. 
  • The ticket counter is 104 cm high.  However, mainly online tickets are sold. 
  • All doors/passages usable and raised for the guest are at least 89 cm wide. 
  • When crossing the ray bay, there is a bridge. The slope before and after the bridge is 7% and a total length of 6 meters.
  • The exhibits and their information are mainly visible, perceptible or recognizable while sitting.
  • There is a QR code at many stations/pools.
  • There are interactive stations throughout the exhibit, these are mostly operable while seated.
  • There are no guided tours for people with walking disabilities and wheelchair users.  
WC for people with disabilities
  • The manoeuvring spaces are: 112 cm x 110 cm in front of the washbasin; 129 cm x 100 cm in front of the WC; 
  • There are grab rails to the left and right of the WC.
  • Both grab rails can be flipped up. 
  • The is wheelchair compatible.  
  • There is an alarm trigger. 

  • The alarm is not clearly perceptible visually. 
  • There is no audio induction loop system.  
  • The information on the exhibits is mainly conveyed in writing.  
  • There is a QR code at many stations/basins.
  • There are interactive stations throughout the exhibit.
  • There are no guided tours for people with hearing disabilities and deaf people.  

  • Assistance dogs may be brought into all relevant areas/rooms.  
  • The entrance is visually contrasting.
  • Many of the raised areas usable by guests are not well lit, i.e., bright and glare-free. 
  • Signage is designed in legible and high contrast lettering. 
  • Exhibits are generally well lit.
  • Information about the exhibits is conveyed in writing, usually designed in easy-to-read, high-contrast type (light boxes).   
  • There is a QR code at many stations/pools.
  • No guided tours are offered for people with visual impairments and blind people.

  • The Sea Life name and logo are clearly visible from the outside.
  • The destinations of the paths are within sight or there are path signs at a constantly visible distance.
  • Information about the exhibits is provided in writing, but not in plain language. 
  • There is a QR code at many of the stations/pools.
  • No guided tours are offered for people with cognitive impairments.
