We're hosting an ‘Otter Week’ with lots of fund raising activities to raise cash for an otter conservation project with the Canal and River Trust.
Events will include specific talks, badge making and activity packs to raise awareness of the project that aims to encourage more shy and elusive otters to make their homes along the canals in the West Midlands.
Saturday 29th June and Sunday 30th June - Visit the centre on these days and you'll be able to visit the mini floating Sea Life touch pool boat.
Monday 1st July and Tuesday 2nd July - Watch staff members rowing the length of the Birmingham canal network (36 miles) in 6 hours on a rowing machine in the reception area.
Wednesday 3rd July - Aquarist Lee Morgan will be donning an otter costume and spending 24 hours in the enclosure with our 3 Asian Short Clawed Otters to really get to understand what it’s like to spend time as a water dwelling mammal.
Friday 5th July - ‘Dress like an Otter’ day at Sea Life and they’re encouraging all guests to get involved by dressing up for the day with those participating receiving free entry.
Saturday 6th July - Ten staff members will don their running shoes for the Birmingham and Black Country half marathon…which covers the same route which is the focus of the Canal and River Trust’s otter project. Join us to welcome them finish and enter the tombola and more great competitions.
You can get involved even if you aren't visiting by donating £3 to the project today...simply text OTTER to 70123.
If you donate you will be charged £3 plus one message at your standard network rate.
