About the American comb jelly

The American comb jelly is one of the so-called ribbed jellyfish. It can produce blue-green light in the dark through bioluminescence.

This species has now been introduced into the North Sea, Baltic Sea, Black Sea, Caspian Sea and Mediterranean Sea, where its mass reproduction is having a dramatic impact on ecosystems.
