Your look behind the scenes
Please note:
- The tour takes place Monday to Friday from 1:15 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:15 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The tour does not take place on public holidays, long weekends, or during Bavarian school holidays. The exception to this is the Bavarian summer holidays (August 3 to September 14), during which Behind The Scenes does take place every day.
- We recommend the tour for children of elementary school age and above. Parents are responsible for their children. Children and young people under the age of 15 can only be booked together with an adult and must be accompanied by an adult during their visit to SEA LIFE Munich and Behind The Scenes.
- The tour is not wheelchair accessible. Strollers, handcarts, and coat trolleys are not permitted in the quarantine area. There is a wardrobe in the quarantine area for normal items of clothing such as jackets and hats. Jackets must be removed. We accept no liability. Service dogs are not allowed in quarantine.
- Plan your individual tour before Behind The Scenes. The admission time on your ticket already takes the tour into account. The time slot is 90 minutes. This allows you to decide for yourself whether you want to allow a little more or less time for the tour.
- Behind The Scenes starts on time. Please make sure you arrive at the meeting point at the Mediterranean Port at the start time. If you are late, we cannot guarantee your participation in the tour. The meeting point for the tour is located in the middle of the tour route, at the Mediterranean Port. The meeting point is signposted.
- Behind the scenes of an aquarium, there are numerous tripping hazards and water leaks. We do our best to prepare the floor for you accordingly. Nevertheless, you may only enter the quarantine area with sturdy footwear. If your footwear is not suitable, you will not be able to participate in Behind The Scenes. We do not offer rental shoes or shoe covers.
- There are no toilets at the start of the tour. Please use the toilets in the entrance area and allow time to return to the meeting point.
- Please note that you will be preparing and feeding real animal food – if you have any allergies or problems with this, please let our staff know.
- Behind The Scenes, you will visit the real work area of our aquarists. Nothing may be entered, touched, pressed, or removed. Anyone who does not follow the rules must leave the quarantine area immediately and will have to leave the tour. In this case, there will be NO ticket refund.
- Participation in Behind The Scenes is only possible in conjunction with a visit to SEA LIFE Munich. It is not possible to book behind the scenes on its own.
Children (aged 2-14) pay the regular admission price, which is less than the adult price. The day ticket for a visit to SEA LIFE Munich is included in the price. The Behind The Scenes upgrade costs €8 per person, regardless of age.
We currently do not offer discounted prices for Behind The Scenes for people with disabilities. Please note that the tour is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible due to the layout of the quarantine.
You can change your booking once free of charge within 90 days of the purchase date. After that, no further changes are possible.

Unfortunately, cancellations are generally not possible.
You are welcome to take photos during the tour. We would love for you to capture and share your favorite Behind The Scenes moments. And as always, please turn off the flash so as not to disturb our residents.
You can also book Behind The Scenes flexibly at the ticket office on the day of your visit. However, as only 10 people can take part in each tour, we recommend booking online in advance - otherwise, depending on capacity, the tour may already be fully booked.
No, holders of a SEA LIFE Munich Basic or Premium Annual Pass or a Merlin Adventure Pass pay the regular price of €8 for Behind The Scenes.
That depends on the tour you book:
If you book the tour by 2 p.m., you can stay in the building until closing time; admission is included in the price. You don't need to book an additional ticket or time slot. However, we recommend that you visit the exhibition before the tour. This will make it easier for you to find the tour meeting point at the Mediterranean Port.
If you book the tour by 5 p.m., you will not have this option, as we close at 5 p.m. The souvenir shop is already closed, too - so be sure to pick up your souvenir before the tour starts!
If you would like to book the tour exclusively for a specific group (e.g., for a family celebration or a company event), this is generally possible with a longer lead time. Just send us an email to muenchen@sealife.de. We will be happy to arrange an individual appointment with you.
If you know you will be unable to attend or are ill, you can rebook the Behind the Scenes Tour free of charge up to 2 days before the planned visit and move it to another day.
Cancellation or spontaneous rebooking less than 2 days before the booked date is generally not possible.
