Who is Hunstanton SEA LIFE Sanctuary for?

SEA LIFE Hunstanton is suitable for everyone. We cater for anyone with a interest in marine wildlife or the just curious!

Are there any age restrictions?

Hunstanton SEA LIFE Sanctuary is suitable for everybody however if you are under the age of 14 you will need to be accompanied by an adult aged 18 and above. You may be asked to produce I.D upon arrival to prove your age so please ensure you have this handy to avoid disappointment.

The outdoor play area is specifically designed for children aged 10 and under. 


Do your prices differ online to what they are on the day?

Yes. We offer guests considerable savings when purchasing tickets online and in advance. We recommend checking the ticket prices page to see further information by clicking here.

Do we accept promotional/discounted vouchers?

We do have vouchers that are accepted with different discounts and offers. Please read all Terms and Conditions thoroughly prior to your arrival, as there are vouchers that are accepted in all SEA LIFE Centers and Sanctuaries with the exception of SEA LIFE London Aquarium. Vouchers and promotional deals can only be used when purchasing full priced standard individual tickets on the day here at the aquarium. Vouchers can not be used in conjunction with any online or telephone bookings and can not be used with any other promotional offers or deals. You must have a printed copy of your voucher and any other required items. We will decline to accept the voucher if all relevant items are not present. 

Can I pay with Nectar Points?

We unfortunately do not accept Nectar Points here at Hunstanton SEA LIFE Sanctuary.

How can I use my 2-4-1/ Promotional voucher online?

Your promotional or 2-4-1 vouchers unfortunately cannot be used online or in conjunction with online purchases. Your vouchers can only be used when purchasing full priced standard individual tickets on the day here at Hunstanton SEA LIFE Sanctuary.

Do Blue Peter badge holders get free entry?

From the 1st January 2017 Blue Peter Badges will no longer be accepted at any Merlin Entertainments attraction.


Where can I purchase/book my tickets?

We have many different options for booking and purchasing tickets. You can pre-book online via our website or on the day here at Hunstanton SEA LIFE Sanctuary. 


Please note that tickets booked online and via the Merlin bookings and information line cannot be used in conjunction with any other offers or deal such as 2-4-1 vouchers.

Do you accept American Express or Maestro Cards?

Yes we do accept these card types for payment.

I have booked online and been charged twice, what should I do?

How long will it take me to visit view the whole attraction?

On average it will take you 1.5 to 2 hours to enjoy the full experience of Hunstanton SEA LIFE Sanctuary. However this depends completely on you and how long you would like to enjoy our underwater world. During the school holidays we have talks and presentation every 30 minutes and two incredible interactive experiences. Firstly the Rockpool to get hands on with some native shore dwelling species & our Rainforest Ranger encounter! 

Where do I need to queue?

When you arrive at the aquarium you will find that we have a general queue line, if you need any assistance please ask one of our very friendly members of staff who will be more than happy to assist you.

Can we touch the creatures?

For the health and safety of you and our animals, we ask that you do not touch any of our animals unless invited to by a member of staff. We have a rock-pool display where you are welcome to touch our starfish and crabs under the supervision of our fully trained staff & a rainforest encounter maned by a SEA LIFE expert where guests can feel snakes, lizards and all sorts of creepy crawlies.  

Are there any creatures we can feed?

Yes, we have a VIP Turtle & Shark Feeding Experience which allows one person to feed our magnificent Giant Green Sea Turtle, Ernie! and plenty of sharks. We also do breakfast with the seals and seal feeding experiences throughout the day. To book please see our VIP Experience page for more information.

There are many other feeds and talks that you can watch but not participate in too. Please view our Talks and Feeding times page for information on all the feeds and talks we do daily.

Am I allowed to take photos at SEA LIFE?

Yes you can as we want you to take your memories of our creature’s home with you, however we do not permit the use of any flash photography as this can scare and harm and even blind our creatures. The use of tripods is also not permitted and if you wish to use a tripod you will need to arrange this with our marketing team.

Is there anywhere to store my belongings or pushchair?

We unfortunately do not have any cloakroom facilities for you to be able to store your belongings, this includes pushchairs on peak periods. Please ask a member of staff for more information. 

Do you have a gift shop?

We do have a gift shop and this is located at the exit of Hunstanton SEA LIFE. This is also accessible without entry to the aquarium itself. To contact our gift shop please email your query to 

Can I eat and drink once inside SEA LIFE?

Eating and drinking within the aquarium is not permitted so therefore please do not bring your own snacks and refreshments with you. Your entry tickets are valid all day however so you can exit to eat and then re-enter at your convenience.

Is there anywhere to eat lunch at SEA LIFE?

We do have a onsite cafe, serving a variety of cakes & sandwiches. However you ticket is valid all day so you are able to exit to get lunch. Eating and drinking is not permitted in the Aquarium. If you are a school group, please call us as we can make preparations to make your visit as smooth as possible.

What happens if I need to leave before the end of my visit?

All tickets are valid for the whole day, so you are free to enter and exit at your leisure. Please ensure your however that your hand is stamped before exiting so that you can gain re-entry.

Is there a place for nursing mothers?

Currently we do not have a place designated for nursing mothers,  however staff on the day will be only too happy to assist you in finding somewhere private.


Can I propose to my partner at Hunstanton SEA LIFE?

YES OF COURSE YOU CAN! However please get in touch with us, as we will be happy to assist you making it a once in a lifetime experience. 

Will I get in the water during the Feeding Experiences?

No. All feeding experiences take place on a platform over the tanks.

Can we watch someone take part in a feeding experience?

If you have booked a seal feeding experience then yes certainly, the experiences run the same time as the public presentations and so spectators can watch from the public areas around the outside of the enclosure.

During the Shark feeding experience we have limited space and only allow for one participant at a time.

Do I need to wear anything special for the Feeding Experiences?

No. You need only wear shoes that you will not slip in and clothes that are comfortable and that you do not mind getting dirty - just in case!


Can I do my Work Experience at SEA LIFE Hunstanton

Yes we have a work experience programme. This programme is extremely popular so we advise applying  early to avoid disappointment! How do I apply for a position?

Can I send you my CV for you to place on file?

What happens once I apply?

All applications need to apply via our Merlin Entertainments job portal. You will automatically receive an e-mail confirming receipt of your application once received and you can then expect to hear from us again within the next 14 days.

Will I know if I have been unsuccessful once I have applied?

Yes – we will contact you either way to confirm whether or not you have been successful.

What is the selection process?

Successful applicants will be required to attend either an assessment centre and/or an interview.

What happens at an assessment centre?

This varies role to role though you will be required to complete short exercises in teams and attend an interview. This is the ideal opportunity for you to find out more about what it is like to work for us, and for us to find out more about you.

They are designed to help us select the right people for the business, and should also be enjoyable for you too!

What is the dress code at the assessment centre?

We'd say smart/casual but remember you're trying to make a good first impression!

What happens after an assessment centre or interview?

What is the dress code?

Within our customer facing roles you are required to wear a uniform. We operate a fairly flexible policy on dress code in all non-uniform areas. In some roles you may even get the chance to wear a costume!

What is the company social scene like?

Will I get free tickets?

Yes! Employees are issued with a pass enabling them, their friends and family to experience many of our fabulous attractions and theme parks.

I need a work permit to work in the UK. Can I still apply?

Eligibility to work in the UK is a prerequisite for employment with Merlin. You will need to provide proof of right to work in the UK when you come in for an Interview.

Are there any age restrictions?

There are certain requirements for different roles, at each attraction. Generally you have to be at least 16 years old or above to apply.

For some roles, such as in Security, you'll need to be 21 or over to satisfy our insurance requirements.
