Red-eared slider

Did you know...?

  • The red-eared slider turtle is actually native to Lake Michigan and across the Mississippi to Mexico. However, due to abandoned animals, populations have also settled in Austria.
  • They prefer to populate ponds or slowly flowing water with dense vegetation and enough stones to sunbathe.
  • Red-eared sliders can live to be up to 40 years old and are sexually mature from a height of approx. 18 cm.
