About Cassiopea

  • Cassiopea prefers to live, but not exclusively, in shallow coastal waters overgrown with mangroves.
  • It is also called "Upside Down Jellyfish". Whoever observes it will notice that this is indeed what it looks like! Most other jellyfish like the common jellyfish for example drift around with the ocean current. The upside down jellyfish, on the other hand, permanently attaches itself to the sea floor.  Its tentacles point upwards towards the sunlight - the jellyfish is sitting upside down!
