European turtle conservation project

They are small and cute and were once the only turtles native to the area: the European pond turtle, scientifically called Emys orbicularis. In Germany, they are one of the rarest animal species, in 2015 they were even the reptile of the year! In cooperation with the NABU Rhineland-Palatinate, SEA LIFE Speyer takes care of the reintroduction of these animals.
