Who is SEA LIFE Scarborough for?

From the smallest of children, to the oldest of adults, there is something for everyone at SEA LIFE Scarborough.

Are there any age restrictions?

SEA LIFE Scarborough is suitable for everybody however if you are under the age of 14 you will need to be accompanied by an adult aged 18 and above. You may be asked to produce I.D upon arrival to prove your age so please ensure you have this handy to avoid disappointment.

The Outdoor Adventure Play area is specifically designed for children aged 3 years old and above.


Do your ticket prices differ between online and those purchased on the door?

Yes. Tickets purchased online are discounted and include priority entrance.

Do we accept promotional/discounted vouchers?

We do have vouchers that are accepted with different discounts and offers. Please read all Terms and Conditions thoroughly prior to your arrival, as there are vouchers that are accepted in all SEA LIFE Centers and Sanctuaries with the exception of SEA LIFE London Aquarium. Vouchers and promotional deals can only be used when purchasing full priced adult tickets on the day here at the aquarium. Vouchers can not be used in conjunction with any online or telephone bookings and can not be used with any other promotional offers or deals. You must have a printed copy of your voucher and any other required items. We will decline to accept the voucher if all relevant items are not present. 

Do you accept Love To Shop Vouchers?

We do accept Love to Shop vouchers when purchasing your tickets on the day but cannot issue any change if the amount is less than the voucher value. Please note that Love to Shop vouchers can only be used to purchase entrance tickets.

Can I pay with Supermarket Points?

You are able to pre-purchase your tickets at a discounted rates using your Tesco Club Card or Nectar Card by visiting either the Club Card or Nectar Card website.

How can I use my 2-4-1/ Promotional voucher online?

Your promotional or 2-4-1 vouchers unfortunately cannot be used online or in conjunction with online purchases, as online tickets are already discounted. Your vouchers can only be used when purchasing full priced adult tickets on the day here at SEA LIFE Scarborough.


Where can I purchase/book my tickets?

We have many different options for booking and purchasing tickets. You can pre-book online, via our bookings and information line on 0871 221 2483 or on the day here at SEA LIFE Scarborough. (Calls to this number cost 13p per minute plus your providers access charge). Please note that tickets booked online and via our bookings and information line cannot be used in conjunction with any other offers or deal such as 2-4-1 vouchers.

Do you sell tickets for other attractions?

We certainly do. On our website you are able to buy a combination ticket to SEA LIFE Scarborough and either The York Dungeon, LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Manchester, SEA LIFE Manchester, or The National SEA LIFE Centre, Birmingham. Combination tickets are priced at £19 per person.

Do you accept American Express or Maestro Cards?

Unfortunately we do not accept these card types for payment.

Do I have to visit all the attractions in my combination ticket in one day?

You can if you like, but if you would like to space it out a little you can do so too. You will need to visit the issuing attraction on the date you have selected when booking and then you will have all your other tickets printed at the issuing attractions entrance. You will then have 3 months to visit the other attractions within your combination ticket.

What happens if I can’t make it on the day I have pre-booked tickets for?

If you are unable to visit on the day you have booked for we can re-validate your tickets for any date within 7 days of your original entry date.

I have booked online and been charged twice, what should I do?

I have double booked by mistake, what should I do?

If you have double booked please make sure that you have the card that was used to make the booking and your double booking will be refunded at the ticket office. How long will it take me to visit view the whole attraction?

On average it will take you 2.5 hours to enjoy the full experience of SEA LIFE Scarborough. However this depends completely on you and how long you would like to enjoy our underwater world.

Where do I need to queue?

When you arrive at the aquarium you will find that during busy periods (i.e. School Holidays) we have a general queue line (those who need tickets) and a priority queue line (those who already have tickets). Depending on which ticket you have purchased/wanting to purchase will depend on where you need to queue. Please ask one of our very friendly members of staff who will be more than happy to assist you and show you which queue to join.

Can we touch the creatures?

For the health and safety of you and our animals, we ask that you do not touch any of our animals unless invited to by a member of staff. We have a rock-pool display where you are welcome to touch our starfish under the supervision of our fully trained staff. 

Are there any creatures we can feed?

Yes, we have a Breakfast with the Seals experience where you are able to feed our five resident Seals. We also have a Marine Biologist Experience where you can take part in all the small feeds throughout the day. Please visit the Experiences section on the website for more information.

Each day at our Native Shark and Ray talk at 1pm, guests are able to feed our Native Sharks and Rays for a £1 donation to the SEA LIFE trust.

There are many other feeds and talks that you can watch but not participate in too. Please view our Talks and Feeding times page for information on all the feeds and talks we do daily.

Am I allowed to take photos at SEA LIFE Scarborough?

Yes you can as we want you to take your memories of our creature’s home with you, however we do not permit the use of any flash photography as this can scare and harm and even blind our creatures. The use of tripods is also not permitted and if you wish to use a tripod you will need to arrange this with our marketing team.

Is there anywhere to store my belongings or pushchair?

We unfortunately do not have any cloakroom facilities for you to be able to store your belongings. We do however have a buggy park and we do request that all guests leave their buggies in here for the welfare and benefit of all other guests.

Do you have a gift shop?

We do have a gift shop and this is located at the exit of SEA LIFE Scarborough.

Can I eat and drink once inside SEA LIFE Scarborough?

Eating and drinking is not permitted in the aquarium itself, however we do have a Restaurant located upstairs serving a selection of hot and food cold for guests wishing to dine. We further have a snacks kiosk located outside at the Beach Bites Adventure Playground serving a selection of drinks and snacks. Outside is a picnic area where guests wishing to consume food from home are more than welcome to use.

Is there anywhere to eat lunch at SEA LIFE Manchester?

Guests who have purchased food from the restaurant are permitted to eat in there. Guests who wish to consume food bought from off the premises are not allowed to consume this food in the Restaurant, and we request that this is consumed in our outdoor picnic area.

What happens if I need to leave before the end of my visit?

All tickets are valid for the whole day, so you are free to enter and exit at your leisure. Please ensure your however that your hand is stamped before exiting so that you can gain re-entry.

Is there a place for nursing mothers?

Currently we do not have a place designated for nursing mothers, however staff on the day will be only too happy to assist you in finding somewhere private.


Can I propose to my partner in SEA LIFE Scarborough?

We do have a proposal package where you can request a professional diver to enter our Ocean Tank and hold up a specially made proposal sign.

Will I get in the water during the Feeding Experiences?

No. All feeding experiences take place on a platform over the tank.

Can we watch someone take part in a feeding experience?

No. Due to space limitations there are no spectator tickets available for the Feeding Experiences.

Do I need to wear anything special for the Feeding Experiences?

For the Seal Feeding Experience you need only wear shoes that you will not slip in and clothes that are comfortable and that you do not mind getting dirty - just in case! For the Marine Biologist Experience, the same rules apply, but we also request that no jewellery is worn and long hair is tied back.


Can I do my Work Experience at SEA LIFE Scarborough?

Yes we have a work experience programme. This programme is extremely popular so we advise applying early to avoid disappointment! Our Work Experience programme is for students who are at university and studying a relevant course such as Marine Biology. What happens once I apply?

What is the selection process?

Successful applicants will be required to attend either an assessment centre and/or an interview.

What happens at an assessment centre?

This varies role to role though you will be required to complete short exercises in teams and attend an interview. This is the ideal opportunity for you to find out more about what it is like to work for us, and for us to find out more about you.

They are designed to help us select the right people for the business, and should also be enjoyable for you too!

What is the dress code at the assessment centre?

We'd say smart/casual but remember you're trying to make a good first impression!

Within our customer facing roles you are required to wear a uniform. We operate a fairly flexible policy on dress code in all non-uniform areas. In some roles you may even get the chance to wear a costume!

What is the company social scene like?

Will I get free tickets?

Yes! Employees are issued with a pass enabling them, their friends and family to experience many of our fabulous attractions and theme parks.

I need a work permit to work in the UK. Can I still apply?

Eligibility to work in the UK is a prerequisite for employment with Merlin. You will need to provide proof of right to work in the UK when you come in for an Interview.

Are there any age restrictions?

There are certain requirements for different roles, at each attraction. Generally you have to be at least 16 years old or above to apply.

For some roles, such as in Security, you'll need to be 21 or over to satisfy our insurance requirements.
