Finless Porpoise Conservation
Protecting Korea’s Native Dolphin, the Finless Porpoise SEA LIFE Busan Aquarium rescues and rehabilitates finless porpoises that have been injured after becoming accidentally trapped in fishing nets, helping them recover and safely return to the ocean. Salamander Conservation
Protecting Small Lives That Connect Forests and Wetlands SEA LIFE Busan Aquarium rescues salamanders at risk during their breeding season and contributes to the conservation of healthy freshwater ecosystems through captive breeding and habitat restoration activities. Together with the local community, we continue conservation education and environmental clean-up activities to protect biodiversity and preserve the natural environment.
Dolphin Rescue
Returning a Dolphin That Wandered Near People Back to the Ocean SEA LIFE Busan and SEA LIFE COEX supported the rescue of Anmoki, a Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphin that had been staying around Gangneung Port. Through collaboration with specialised organisations, we supported a safe rescue operation and continue our efforts to contribute to marine mammal conservation.
Whale Rescue
Protecting Marine Mammals in Need SEA LIFE Busan Aquarium supports rescue activities for stranded or trapped whales and dolphins in collaboration with specialised organisations, including the Korea Coast Guard and the Cetacean Research Institute of the National Institute of Fisheries Science. Through close cooperation with experts, we work to help marine animals safely return to the ocean and contribute to the conservation of healthy marine ecosystems and biodiversity. Animal Care
We take responsibility for the animals in our care and understand the role we must play in the conservation of endangered creatures and habitats around the world. We work to world-class welfare standards through our animal care network, and we support the SEA LIFE Trust in its mission to protect marine life and ocean environments.
Welfare
SEA LIFE Aquariums all over the world care for over 160,000 animals and over 4,000 different species. Our teams look after ethical sourcing, scientific research, rehoming and rescues, and breeding programmes. Every year, we breed over 3,500 animals, rescue around 200 seals and turtles, and release over 150 animals into the wild. Our work has a positive long-term impact on the conservation of threatened species.
Engagement
We want to inspire our guests to support the work that we do to benefit the marine environment. To do this, our experts look at new ways in which creatures, display techniques and technology can create the most engaging and enlightening experiences. They also spread the message about conservation and welfare work, including world-firsts like the SEA LIFE TRUST Beluga Whale Sanctuary in Iceland.
