WIPE OUT
WHALING

Stop the transport, stop the trade.

The SEA LIFE Trust is working with Whale & Dolphin Conservation (WDC) to wipe out commercial whaling. WDC has proved that whale meat and other whale produce has docked here in British ports as well as in Germany and Holland on route to other destinations.

The investigation has also uncovered a surprising range of items that whale produce is finding its way into… including dog food, engine oil, watches and even beer.

The SEA LIFE Trust will be raising funds to help:

  • Send WDC experts to campaign to the Icelandic government
  • Carry out DNA analysis of suspected products
  • Hire legal experts to maximize the impact of current EU law

Sign our petition to prevent whale meat being transported through EU ports and explore this section to find out more about the problems whaling causes throughout the world.

FACT

Whales are very clever and sociable, many forming close family bonds, and can communicate with each other through song or other vocalisations.

FACT

Blue whales are the largest animals to have ever lived. They can grow up to 30 metres long and eat up to 8 tons of krill (small fish) per day!

FACT

Whales provide nourishment to deep-sea organisms. After a whale dies, every part of it's body is consumed by creatures in the deep sea - this can take decades!
