Blacktip Reef Shark at SEA LIFE Sydney

With the summer holidays fast approaching the beaches are starting to get busier with lots more people in the water, so we have created our top 5 shark safety tips!

Shark Interview

Shark Tip 1:

Always swim between the red & yellow flags

Shark Tip 2:

Always swim with a Buddy

Shark Tip 3:

Avoid swimming at dawn & dusk

Shark Tip 4:

Avoid swimming where you see schools of fish

Shark Tip 5:

Stay calm - if you do see a potentially dangerous shark, stay calm and exit the water

It is important to understand the severity of shark attacks, but also the rarity. It is more likely to be killed by a cow than a shark, yet over 100 million sharks are killed by HUMANS every year! Sharks have thrived on our planet for millions of years and continue to be one of the most misunderstood creatures. These magnificent animals are essential to the balance of our environment and marine ecosystems.

Visit SEA LIFE Sydney this summer and discover more about shark safety and conservation.
