Accessibility & Facilities

At SEA LIFE Kelly Tarlton's Aquarium, we strive to make our attraction as accessible as possible to all of our guests.

SEA LIFE Kelly Tarlton's Aquarium has worked with Be. Accessible to ensure we are accessible as possible for our visitors.

They have assessed the aquarium under the following criteria and given an overall rating of Silver.

  • Mobility
  • Hearing
  • Vision
  • Parents
  • Learning & Intellectual

Information on arrival, parking, and detailed accessibility about the site is available in their full report

There is one designated accessible parking space available for your use.

SEA LIFE Kelly Tarlton's Aquarium is wheelchair accessible (there are two sets of stairs, which each have a wheelchair lift,) and disabled access is provided throughout the attraction.

Wheelchairs may be borrowed from the admissions area if required. Please note that wheelchairs are on a first-come, first-served basis, and cannot be booked or reserved ahead of time.

You will be required to leave your ID behind while you use the wheelchair.

If you would prefer your visit to be less crowded and loud, we recommend you visit during the week (outside of school holidays), after 1 pm. With the attraction being open until 5 pm this allows you plenty of time to enjoy the full benefits the attraction has to offer.

For your information, there will be varying levels of lighting and music throughout the attraction to enhance the visit - please be prepared if this is a concern.

There are accessible toilets available at the entrance and exit to the attraction as well as alongside the cafe for your convenience.

Family Facilities

There are changing facilities located throughout the building, in men's and women's toilets. A designated parent's room is next to our playground which provides a more private space for breastfeeding if required.

Bench seating (without back or armrests) is available at intervals throughout the aquarium and standard seating (seat back only) is provided for our cafe guests.

Emergency Exits

The emergency exits are accessible and hazard free. There are audible fire alerting devices.

The assembly areas are on an accessible route. Our staff are on hand to assist with evacuation requirements

School Holidays

Please note that because of the increased amount of guests during school holidays accessibility can be difficult around the building. Please keep this in mind when visiting during these periods.

Find out more about School Holidays dates.

Whilst we do not offer a discounted rate for disabled guests, you are welcome to purchase a General Admission ticket online and the carer will be able to gain free entry on production of a valid community service card.

Yes, carers should pre-book time slot via the "Ticket Pre-book" option to guarantee entry.

The Carer's free entry only applies when the Carer enters with a paying guest with special needs.
