Calling all Junior Aquarists...
Do your little ones love the ocean and dream of caring for sea creatures?
This November, they can become Junior Aquarists for the day at SEA LIFE London Aquarium’s STEM Day!
We’re giving curious minds the chance to dive behind the scenes and discover how our amazing team use Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths (STEM) every day to keep our creatures happy and healthy.
It’s a FIN-tastic way to spark their curiosity and show them how real science helps protect the underwater world they love.
What is STEM — and Why Is It Important?
STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths, four subjects that help us understand how the world (and the ocean!) works.
At SEA LIFE, STEM isn’t just something we learn about, it’s something we use every day!
From testing water to make sure it’s safe for our fish, to tracking animals and building clever habitats, STEM helps our aquarists take great care of every creature in our ocean family.
During STEM Day, children will get hands-on and see how these skills help protect marine life, all while having lots of splashy fun!
FIN-tastic Activities on STEM Day
Throughout the day, Junior Aquarists can take part in hands-on challenges inspired by the real science we use every day at SEA LIFE London Aquarium:

🐠 Identification Challenge – Use your detective skills to match mystery sea creatures to their clues — just like a real aquarist!

💧 Syphoning in Action – Learn how we use simple tools and gravity to keep our tanks clean and healthy — then try it yourself!

🌊 Water Testing Station – Test pH and salinity levels to find the perfect ocean environment for our animals.

🐢 ID Chipping Adventure – Discover how microchipping helps us track, care for, and protect marine life — and scan for a hidden chip!

🌍 CITES Conservation Display – Explore fascinating artefacts and learn how global agreements protect endangered species.
