Sea Turtles

Each Year, Millions Of Sea Turtles Are Killed By Human Activity

The SEA LIFE Trust is a conservation charity working to protect turtle nesting beaches, fund turtle rescue and rehabilitation and combat the threats of pollution and turtle hunting.

We want to conserve sea turtles by protecting their nesting beaches, halting both the targeted and accidental catch of turtles and supporting rescue centers around the world that return rehabilitated sea turtles to the wild.

Sea turtles play an important role in the oceans because they are gardeners! Sea turtles are one of the very few animals that eat sea grass; this is important because sea grass must constantly be cut short to help it grow across the sea floor. Sea grass beds provide breeding grounds for hundreds of other marine species such as fish, shellfish and crustaceans.

They also play an important role on the land because the hatched and unhatched eggs and hatchlings that fail to make it into the ocean are a vital source of nutrition for many terrestrial animals and dune vegetation.
