Shark Cove Exhibit

Sharks, Sawfish and Stingrays... Oh My!

The Shark Cove Exhibit is the second section in our 300-ft long Ocean Tunnel, and the home of many different vicious predators! Get up close to Sand Tiger Sharks, Loggerhead Sea Turtles, Nurse Sharks, Guitarfish, Honeycomb Stingray and dozens of other species.

Loggerhead Sea Turtle

  • Amelio the Loggerhead Sea Turtle was born with a bent tail, and a runted flipper, that would limit how well he could swim.
  • Amelio is now over 15 years old and still growing rapidly!

Green Sawfish

  • Sawfish use their rostrum, covered with electrosensitive pores, to sense prey in the area.
  • Sawfish usually only mate every two years, and have a litter of eight or so.

Sandtiger Shark

  • They are the only shark we know of that comes up to the surface of the water and takes gulps of air, which they hold in their stomach.
  • The Sandtiger Shark's diet consists only of small fish, Crustaceans and Squid.
