SEA WEEK 2017

  • Friday 24th February 2017

SEA WEEK 25.02 2017 - 05.03.2017 is the chance for New Zealand to focus on a very important part of our everyday lives - the ocean! This year the theme is "Toiora te Moana - Toiora te Tangata" - 'Healthy Seas, Healthy People.'

The images above show the types of rubbish that can be found in the ocean. We see the effects of these items regularly on our rescued Sea Turtles. Often sea turtles mistake floating plastic bags as Jelly Fish, which is a favourite food source for these marine creatures.

Some Top Tips to decrease consumption of single use plastic products include

  • Bring reusable bags when you shop
  • Swap a one use plastic bottle for a refillable one
  • Say NO when offer a plastic bag
  • Buy items with less plastic packaging
  • Use a travel mug rather than a takeaway cup!

Do your part this SEA WEEK and Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!

For SEA WEEK 2017 use a reusable travel mug at SEA LIFE Kelly Tarlton's cafe, for $2 coffees and swap a single use plastic bag for an ecofriendly one in our retail store.
