Thank you for your patience and being so understanding as we navigate through the construction of our new Zone, Sea Cave Adventure.We acknowledge some of our guests were not able to see their favourite animals while our Fish Gallery is closed for construction. To be able to maintain and upgrade our attraction to the best possible standard for both our visitors and the creatures in our care, we undergo renovations of our displays from time to time.We are really excited to unveil the new Sea Cave Adventure zone in mid December and we would love for you to come back to experience the new zone when it opens. Sea Cave Adventure, presenting the unique wildlife of Hauraki Gulf Marine Park / Tīkapa Moana / Te Moana-nui-a-Toi and our local species.

The new zone upgrade tells the story of the Hauraki Gulf Marine Park, which was established to help stem ecological decline by protecting the Gulf’s natural and historic features. The new zone will be a portal for guests to discover the Gulf’s marine life, the threats to its future and how they can help protect it.

It is a world-class interactive experience that aims to educate guests and inspire them to fall in love with the Hauraki Gulf Marine Park and its inhabitants.

FAQ

Fish Gallery was one of the oldest zones of the aquarium and we are undergoing renovation to bring it up to modern day standards providing an interactive and immersive experience to our guests. 

Preparation works begun from the last week of May 2022, the zone is due to unveil in mid December 2022.

We understand that some of our guests have missed out on seeing their favourite animals, rest assured they are being taken good care of at our back of house area. You can see them again with the opening of Sea Cave Adventure.

Only one zone (Fish Gallery) is closed during the construction period. All our other highlights such as Scott’s Hutt, Antarctic Ice Adventure, Turtle Rescue Centre, Shark Tunnel, Seahorse Kingdom, Rockpool, Amazing Creations and Shipwreck Shores Playground remains fully accessible.
