From sharks and turtles to seahorses and coral reefs, ocean life faces challenges every day. Now it’s your mission to step up, take action, and become part of the rescue squad.

Perfect for families and young explorers looking for unforgettable adventures over the school holidays, this immersive trail transforms your visit into a hands-on mission to help save our seas!

When you arrive, you’ll receive your Rescue Squad Activity Trail, your guide to becoming a certified ocean hero. 

As you journey through the aquarium, you’ll take on a series of interactive challenges: 

• Follow the Turtle Rescue Checklist – Discover simple actions to help protect sea turtles and learn about the rescued turtles who have been in our care. Follow the turtle rescue process using the turtle rescue cards.  
• Know Your Shark Survivors – Learn which sharks need our help most and discover how we can protect them.  
• Find Five in Freshwater – Solve clues around the eel habitat to discover and protect New Zealand’s freshwater species.  
• Colourful Coral – Bring coral reefs to life while learning how to help protect them, with a colouring activity in our Tropical Temple.
• Seahorse Survey – Learn about the Kelly Tarlton’s Marine Wildlife Trust seahorse project and what to do if you spot a seahorse in the wild. 
• Become a Certified Rescue Helper – Get trained by our Animal Rescue team to help rescue our animal plushies and earn your very own Rescue Helper stamp. 

Complete your mission, and you’ll be rewarded for your efforts! 

Every successful recruit will receive:
