Aqua Nights: Ghost Fishing

  • Wednesday 6th September 2023

Fish swarm

On Wednesday 25nd October, SEA LIFE London Aquarium is hosting the fifth of the 'Aqua Nights' series, this time focusing on all things Ghost Fishing! This is the perfect evening for ocean lovers.

So what is ghost fishing? The term ghost fishing refers to lost and discarded fishing nets that drift through the oceans entangling unsuspecting fish and other animals, where they die. Unless removed, these nets can trap animals for thousands of years until the materials finally decay or wash up onto land. Curious? Come and discover more...

Guests will have the chance to walk through some aquarium displays after closure, before embarking on an intimate and educational evening discovering more about the beating heart of the oceans. The evening will include:

  • An engaging talk with member of Ghost Fishing UK, a local that is working tirelessly to clean up the waters around the UK from lost fishing gear.
  • A exploration of the work the Olive Ridley Project are tackling in the warmer parts of the world.
  • Exclusive viewing of SEA LIFE London Aquarium after hours
