Rainforest Adventure

Our team of Rainforest Rangers are inviting all explorers to be put to the test this half term with the chance to come EVEN closer to our bugs!

Join in with Rainforest quizzes and a 'test your ranger skills' trail before feasting your eyes upon our piranhas feeding frenzy... Take a look at the times below to make sure you won't miss out!

  • Piranha feed: 11:00, 13:30 and 16:30.
  • Rainforest talk with our expert rangers: 12:30 and 16:30
  • Get closer to our bugs: 12:30, 13:30, 16:30.

Think you've got what it takes? We need the toughest of explorers to face our rainforest, and you can take a peak at our checklist below to see if you have what it takes to #BravetheBugs:

1. You must be bold enough to come face to fang with some creepy crawlies!

Here in our Rainforest Adventure we dare you to put your head up into our pop up displays, where only centimetres of glass separate you from our giant Goliath Bird Eating Tarantula. You heard that right: BIRD-EATING, Yikes! These guys are one of the largest species of spider, and can sense their prey by feeling the vibrations in the ground – so whatever you do, don’t make any sudden movements.

2. You’ll need to be patient enough to go croc’ spotting

Can you spot our crocodiles giving you their best croco-smiles? We’re welcoming three West African Dwarf Crocodiles to our newest adventure, and you can see if you can spot them lurking silently in the water, or basking in the sun. Can you see their teeth? Unlike alligators, these guys’ have teeth that stick out even when their mouths are closed. Crikey!

3. You’ve got to have a bit of BITE to keep up with our piranhas feeding frenzy!

With the UK’s biggest collection of Piranha’s residing here at SEA LIFE London, you’re sure to have an eye-full when it comes to feeding times. With over 200 Red-Bellied Piranhas getting ready for meal time, make sure you have a front row seat for the feeding frenzy! But did you know: Although these guys love a feast- their stomach is only as big as their eye ball!

4. You’ll need to bring along your best pair of binoculars

Not all of our creatures are so big and fierce – we also have the small and mighty! Check out our colony of leaf cutter ants. Only millimetres long, these guys can carry up to 50 times their body weight – that’s the equivalent of us carrying a van! Blimey.
Each ant has their own role in the colony: Nurses, foragers, gardeners, trash handlers, a little bit like our society. Can you spot who’s who?

5. You’ll need a great sense of adventure!

The rainforest isn’t for the faint hearted, but it sure is going to be a wild journey that we want you to be a part of! So if you’re ready to face the fangs, gawk at the biggest feeding frenzy and snap up the chance to meet our crocs, book here to guarantee your entry.
